As part of Dementia Action Week, the Royal Hospital Chelsea is joining other organisations in Sloane Square in promoting a series of free cultural events, including an art exhibition featuring work by the Chelsea Pensioners.

When Chelsea Pensioner Ernie Boyden noticed a small street called Bunhouse Place, behind the Pimlico Road, he decided to investigate.

Each year, April 23rd usually marks St George's Day, the Patron Saint of England who is celebrated for mythical tales of conquering a mighty dragon. This year, the date also marked National Asparagus Day, and the Royal Hospital Chelsea celebrated both events in a uniquely British way.

Last weekend’s multimedia exhibition: From the World War I Battlefields and Into the Peace saw visitors from all over Britain, including the Isle of Wight.

When the Royal Hospital opened its doors to women in 2009, Marjorie Cole jumped at the chance. Ten years on, she looks back at what brought her to the Royal Hospital and talks about what makes life as a Chelsea Pensioner so special.

The Chelsea Pensioners have a long-standing and close relationship with Canada, which is celebrated each year, since 2014, with a pancake breakfast at the Royal Hospital Chelsea.

On Thursday 14th February, Pensioners, staff and volunteers joined nostalgic dance group Swing Dance UK for a Valentine’s Day dance party. For one guest, 88-year-old George Stevenson, the occasion triggered memories of his own special Valentine.

Chelsea Pensioner Arthur Currie interviews best-selling author, David Walliams about his latest book, The Ice Monster, which includes a very special scene with a Chelsea Pensioner at the Royal Hospital. 

Today, the Government of South Australia and the South Australian Branch of the Returned and Services League of South Australia (RSL) celebrated the annual Christmas Cake Ceremony with the Chelsea Pensioners. 

A festive tradition dating back to the opening of the Royal Hospital in 1692 – today Dairy UK donated over 270kg of British cheeses to the Chelsea Pensioners to tide them over the festive period.
