Armed Forces Day 2020

On a day when the Chelsea Pensioners would traditionally be on parade with over 1,000 service men and women in Salisbury to celebrate Armed Forces Day, this year has seen a very different celebration of this important event.
With the Royal Hospital remaining under lockdown to safeguard Pensioners and staff, a far smaller and quieter celebration was arranged. To show their appreciation of the work, commitment and sacrifices of all members of the Armed Forces, a Chelsea Pensioner raised and saluted the Armed Forces Day flag at the Royal Hospital Chelsea.
While it was a different scene to the crowds and spectacle of last year’s military parade, it is a reminder of the camaraderie and resilience shared by those within the Armed Forces community – as well as the hope that next year we will be on parade again.
