King’s Royal Hussars Parade

7th July 2020

On Tuesday 23rd June, Chelsea Pensioners – at a distance – were treated to the sunshine and spectacle of the King’s Royal Hussars on parade at the Royal Hospital Chelsea.

With the Royal Hospital remaining under lockdown to protect both Pensioners and staff, HRH The Princess Royal inspected the King’s Royal Hussars on parade via video link.

Her Royal Highness congratulated the troops and wished them good luck with the next stage, while Governor of the Royal Hospital Chelsea, General Sir Adrian Bradshaw KCB OBE DL, presented The Princess Royal with the Regimental Medal of The King’s Royal Hussars, specially gilded to mark her 50 years as their Colonel-in-Chief (1969-2019).

In a nod to the unusual meeting of tradition and technology, General Bradshaw concluded the video link by asking Her Royal Highness “May I have your leave, Ma’am, to log off?”
