Chelsea Pensioners at the Lord Mayor's Show 2017

10th November 2017

The Chelsea Pensioners will be taking part in the annual Lord Mayor's Show in London this year, to celebrate their 325th anniversary.

Twenty-one Chelsea Pensioners will be aboard a specially decked-out red bus as part of the colourful main procession that stetches through the City of London. This year is particularly significant for the iconic veterans as their home, the Royal Hospital Chelsea, has been marking 325 years since it first opened its doors in 1692. Read more about the history of the Royal Hospital here.

As the parade coincides with Armistice Day this year, the Chelsea Pensioners will also join all attendants in a two minute silence at 11am.

2017 has also seen the Royal Hospital Chelsea launch our special Scarlets Appeal, in order to raise money for new light-weight Scarlet coats for the Chelsea Pensioners.

The Royal Hospital Chelsea would like to thank our sponsors, the worshipful Company of Gunmakers, who have enabled us to take part in this years Lord Mayor's Show.
