The Chelsea Pensioners Remember

6th November 2015

The Chelsea Pensioners have been travelling across the country and beyond to attend Remembrance events.

Some 85 Pensioners have also been collecting for the Poppy Appeal at locations around the UK, and a group of Chelsea Pensioners will march at Royal British Legion’s Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall on Saturday 7 November.

On Sunday 8 November, Chelsea Pensioners will join serving military personnel and fellow veterans at the march past the Cenotaph at the National Service of Remembrance.

Chelsea Pensioners in the spirit of Remembrance

HM The Queen will be in attendance at the service alongside a host of dignitaries who will pay tribute to all of those who have suffered or died in conflicts over the past 100 years.

This year marks the 70th anniversary of the end of World War Two and the Chelsea Pensioners who are not able to attend the march at the Cenotaph will have their own service of Remembrance within the Royal Hospital’s Wren Chapel.

Chelsea Pensioner Marjorie Cole (pictured below) said: “Every time I see a poppy it reminds me that it represents one life that was lost either from the First World War, the Second World War and all of the conflicts since. When I march, I march for other people who can’t attend and for all the current service men and women. It is important for me, to never, ever, ever forget.”
