Chelsea Pensioners visit poppies at Tower of London

A group of 26 Chelsea Pensioners have visited the Tower of London's poppy installation, the 'Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red'.
The artwork, in the dry moat of the World Heritage Site, is being made up of 888,246 ceramic poppies that are being planted to mark each British and Colonial fatality during the First World War.
Chelsea Pensioner Albert Willis planted a poppy at the site on Thursday 7th October, with a Beefeater and Grenadier Guardsman. The final poppy will be planted on Armistice Day, 11th November 2014.
Royal Hospital Chelsea Captain of Invalids Col Rupert Lucas said: “26 Chelsea Pensioners visited the Tower’s poppy installation and many commented on how fantastic the project is in bringing remembrance to the forefront of the public’s minds during this anniversary year.
“Everyone felt very privileged to visit the poppies, the sales of which will benefit so many Service charities.”
