In memoriam: HRH The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh

We are deeply saddened to learn of the death of His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh this morning. Our Governor, General Sir Adrian Bradshaw KCB OBE DL, shared the below statement:
"On behalf of the Chelsea Pensioners, Commissioners, and all staff at the Royal Hospital our sincere condolences are with the Royal Family at this sad time.
The Pensioners had a deep respect and a natural affinity with His Royal Highness The Prince Philip Duke of Edinburgh through their shared military background. Many of our Pensioners were lucky enough to meet him and share a joke with him, either here at the Royal Hospital or on his other official duties.
HRH was the Reviewing Officer for Founder’s Day in 1978 and again in 1997. He also accompanied Her Majesty The Queen at Founder’s Day in 2006.
Both HRH The Prince Philip and HM The Queen enjoyed visiting the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, held at the Royal Hospital annually, with their wider family.
HRH The Prince Philip will be profoundly missed by our community here at the Royal Hospital Chelsea."
